Our systems work near flawlessly on vertical spindled railings, such as: Aluminum, Wrought Iron, Vinyl, PVC, Trex/Recycled & yes, even Wood! Any spindle that is 1/2" to 1 3/4" thick and has less that a 5" open space between them works perfect! Building codes ask for 4" MAX - so most deck/balcony railings are good unless they are over 30 years old.
